​Dr. ShyamKishore Singh Lairikyengbam (Popularly known as Dr. S.K.S Lairikyengbam in the UK, Europe and USA) passed the 3 parts of the Examination leading to the award of the Member of Royal Colleges of Physicians (M.R.C.P.), United Kingdom in 1998. He obtained his Doctorate Degree (D.M.) in Cardiology from the premier medical institute of India, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi in 1988. During this period of D.M. training Dr. S.K.S Lairikyengbam completed 4 theses and 3 review articles. In the year 1983 he passed M.D. in General Internal Medicine from Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh University.

Dr. S.K.S Lairikyengbam was appointed as a Royal College Tutor of the Royal College of Physicians, London in 2008. In this capacity he served as a teacher of MBBS students (Clinical) of London Deanery and also served as a Program Director for MRCP (Member of Royal Colleges of Physicians) Trainee Doctors of London Deanery till 2011. He was also a Post-graduate Trainer for post-MRCP Specialist Registrars undergoing Cardiology, General Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine specialty training under London Deanery to achieve Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST).

Dr. S.K.S Lairikyengbam has nearly 33 years of experience in the field of cardiology with special interest in Acute Coronary Syndrome, Heart Failure, Atrial Fibrillation, Congenital Heart Disease, Clinical Cardiology, Cardiac Imaging including Transesophageal Echocardiography for both adult and paediatric patients and Preventive Cardiology including care of patients with hypertension and diabetes mellitus.

 

After 15 years extensive training and practical experience in the British Government National Health Service, he left the post of Consultant Cardiologist and the Head of Department of Cardiology Clinical Governance King George-BHR University Hospitals, London, to return to his home country, India to establish a full-fledged heart hospital, SKY Hospital in his native state of Manipur to serve the heart patients of Manipur and other North-Eastern states of India. Now, he is the Chairman & Chief Cardiologist of SKY Hospital and also Program Director of Doctorate in Cardiology Training Program accredited by NBEMS, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India and MRCP guidance on coaching program.

Dr. Lairikyengbam provides free OPD and free Echo by conducting heart camps in the hill districts of Manipur and other northeastern states of India and at SKY Hospital.

Dr. S.K.S. starts 24x7 service in the hospital saving many critically ill patients although he has his home nearby.
